Welcome
Ascension Family Ministry serves families in Melbourne who are seeking a Catholic family life centered on Christ. Most of our members are families with children still in the home, but we also have groups suitable for parents with adult children and warmly welcome these families to our events.
As a ministry, we are rooted in scripture and the Eucharist. We believe that parents are the first formators of their children's souls and should be supported on their own journeys towards Christ. We believe our Catholic families are stronger in community and we seek to strengthen the bond between you, your family and the community, all for the ultimate purpose of greater union with Christ.
We provide opportunities for families to make friends and strengthen existing friendships through social gatherings and assist families in their journey towards greater union with Christ through family holy hours and formation groups for parents and the family.

Our Community
In Catholic fatherhood and motherhood, parents have the responsibility to educate and care for their children not only physically and intellectually, but spiritually as well. The Lord desires to accompany and strengthen you on this journey through a deeper relationship with Him. Ascension Family Ministry offers groups where parents can enrich their spiritual lives alongside other parents.
More InformationSt. Anne's Society is for mothers of our community who want to grow in fellowship and holiness with other mothers. They host socials and participate in a book or bible study together.
Our Men's Group is for men who want to be in fellowship with one another and grow stronger as fathers and as men in Christ. "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." — Proverbs 27:17. The Men's Group hosts socials and participates in a book or bible study together.
Being a parent of an adult comes with challenges that can only be left up to God in prayer. Mothers with one or more adult children are invited to join us to pray for the needs of our children.

Family Potlucks are primarily a social event that typically includes a game or activity tailored for the whole family and a form of prayer beginning and concluding the event. These events are great for families new to the area who want to meet other families.
Families of the community are invited to join us to adore our Lord in the Eucharist. Tailored for those with children still in the home, we encourage parents to bring their whole family without worry about making too much noise!
Family Pods
Everything you need to know about joining a Family Pod.
A small group of families who meet monthly (for 3 months at a time) for fellowship, food, and prayer.
Families of Melbourne, especially those with children still in the home, who desire deep, Christ-centered friendships for the whole family.
Once-a-month meetings (typically 2–3 hours) for a 3-month period.
Entirely up to your pod — each pod finds a day and time that fits the group's schedule.
In the homes of the members — most often the pod lead's home.
The pod lead — an individual or couple in charge of logistics and communicating with Ascension Family Ministry.
Your family and a dish to share.
Time to socialize, a potluck meal, group prayer, then more socializing until everyone heads home.
That's okay! Things come up. Pick up where you left off the next month.
Prayer should be engaging for most ages. Younger children may prefer to play during parts of it — adjust the prayer time to your pod's needs.
Yes. Parents are responsible for supervising their children at all times during pod meetings.
Let the pod lead know so there can be safe food for everyone at meetings.

The Basics
Natural family planning, or NFP, refers to the ability to observe your body's natural biomarkers of fertility to identify the fertile window. Once the fertile window is identified, couples can change their behaviors in order to achieve or avoid a pregnancy. It is a beautiful way to embrace your God-given fertility and help couples give fully of themselves. This love is a witness of the goodness and dignity of the human person.

Ellie is a registered nurse of 6 years and is certified to teach the Marquette Method of natural family planning. She graduated from Baylor University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Since then, she has worked at the labor and delivery bedside, helping hundreds of couples welcome their babies into the world. She is currently spending most of her time at home with two littles, while still working part-time at the bedside and teaching NFP. She is passionate about teaching couples about the beauty of their fertility and reducing fear and anxiety around NFP. Ellie specializes in the postpartum period, although she teaches couples and women in all stages of life.
